Call Tuesday
I noticed this year there were so many posts and YouTube videos on planning your year and re-setting for 2026. Right in the middle of holiday season. Kids home from school. Family in town. Cooking, baking, buying. I really didn't feel in the headspace to plan my whole year.
And
after the holidays, my body and mind were saying rest. I just put Christmas away this weekend.
But, now I feel ready. I know if I don't do any planning for the year, my year will be set by other's people's priorities and expectations.
I want plans based on what is authentically calling me to do and be. I don't want to spend every day putting out fires and doing whatever seems to be the loudest and most urgent.
I want to
grow AND enjoy the process AND allow time for rest and joy. That requires planning. It doesn't just show up at the beginning of the day.
It never happens
One thing I've heard for years from clients and readers is they never do annual planning because they never follow through. They make a list of goals and next January write out the same goals.
I remember being the same way. That was one of the reasons I created this Simple Annual Plan. Either plans I were
following were overwhelming with steps and questions to answer, or it gave me an overview, but it wasn't clear on how to take action.
So my plan is simpler. Some questions, some visioning and then breaking those ideas into projects/monthly plans. Which we can turn into weekly and daily goals. Some goals may take longer than a year. It took 3 years to write my last book, but I was able to keep going a little at a time.
It's usually not the big actions
that make dreams become reality, but consistent, small actions. If we are in too much of a hurry, we discount these forward momentum tasks, thinking they aren't enough.
What if this year, you tried doing things little and often as an experiment?
And if you have a tendency to get excited by planning, but then never get started, I have my Simple Annual Planning Call January 13th! Your half- started plan won't stay in a drawer. We can work on it together, in community.
