Welcome to this week's tips
I have been cozy staying in the house for a full week. Many things were canceled due to snow storms and my daughter was sick which meant I was caring for her instead of driving her to work. So I got caught up on email from the holidays, work
projects and letter writing. Below are the icicles on my house with a hawk in the tree above.
I am also getting ready for the upcoming declutter group. How do most people declutter? A few times a year when they get fed up with their house they randomly get rid of things for a couple days until they get burned out. In my Declutter Group that starts Jan. 19th I teach you how to have decluttering become part of your life in an easier, sustainable way. Plus it's more fun in a group.
(Or if you
are interested in multiple classes like finance, projects, habits and time you can get the Bundle.)
Weekly Simplicity Tips
Take care of computer things like browser hijacking right away or you will lose energy every time you open your computer. It's not worth the stress of waiting.
Use a heating mat for your feet to save 95% energy over a space heater. I got one for Christmas and have it under my work desk.
Dedicate 30 min a day to clearing your email backlog from the holidays (or before ;)
Update your planner with
new goals and your calendar. This is the planner I am using this year.
Finish putting away holiday decorations. Do a few minutes at a time if it's overwhelming.
Send a letter to a kid you know, with stickers.
Read magazines at the library this weekend instead of buying them.
My basement storage area has labeled boxes and I know what is in them
I have a maintenance plan so my house doesn’t get overrun (I took two bags over to Goodwill the other day)
I
don’t have piles all over the place
My papers and mail are all caught up
My office, which seems to get cluttered the fastest, gets back in shape quickly
It's not perfect, but then that's not the point. My house is livable for my current lifestyle, not crammed with stuff from my past or things I "might" need in the future. Yours can be too.
