Welcome to this week's issue of Weekly Simplicity Tips. I love taking a weekly Sabaath to relax, renew and rest. If you can't take a whole day off each week, can you start with 1 or 2 hours?

Last night, my husband and I saw a brilliant sunset at the Grand Haven beach, then went to Panera Bread for hot cocoa.

Warmly, Beth

Weekly Tips

  1. Have you become rigid in what you allow yourself to eat? Is it working for you?
  2. If you have been taking in information without taking any action, decide to take action before you read up on a topic more.
  3. Do 5 minutes on something you have been procrastinating on.
  4. Since beating yourself up isn't helpful and doesn't produce results, practice a better self-talk today on at least one subject.
  5. Do something that is not that important imperfectly. Not everything has to be done to the highest standard.
  6. Most people's patience muscles have gotten lax. Try waiting in line, for the kids or at an appointment without getting out your phone/book/tablet.
  7. What feeling are you trying to numb with busyness, overeating, the internet, or TV? Can you sit with that feeling 5 minutes letting it just be there in your body?

Why Do You Need a Retreat?

I had a lovely retreat the other weekend that always renews me.

Ask yourself: when was the last time I took time alone?

Have you been stuffing down feelings trying to keep it all together?

Do you want to escape your life for a little while? Does everyone seem to annoy you?

Do you feel hollowed out mentally, spiritually or physically?

Are you in the midst of transition and change? Or have a decision you need to make?

Perhaps you have felt you have lost yourself under stacks of to do lists and other people's expectations?

Your Simpler Life

---------------------------

"She has an uncanny way of, "reading between the lines" to see a person’s heart. Conversely, she never assumes, never puts her words in your mouth. She works with exactly what you give her, and stays committed to your focus, and then sets your eyes and primes you for what you cannot see." - Sue Halpern
