Then the lights went out

Hi Everyone, We are often told to just take care of it when it comes to finances. I wasn't taught personal finance in school, only global economics. Early in my marriage we were always shuffling the bills to see what we could put off another month. My husband and I were both working entry level jobs with little income. We ate tons of ramen noodles and potatoes and had to be super careful with our money. With our second child, I stayed home because it wasn't worth the child care costs for me to work. My husband continued to rise in his company and as the kids went to school I was able to work more hours. We became more lax with the money management when we didn't have to watch every penny. I was in charge of the money, but wasn't paying very close attention to it. The day the power went out, I thought it was just a city thing. But, everyone else's electricity was on. We had money in the bank, I just hadn't gotten around to paying the bills. I got the power turned back on that day, but was embarrassed walking into the Board of Public Works. This wouldn't be the last time the lights went out. We also lost cable, garbage service and were turned over to a collection agency for the hospital bill. Winging it when it came to our finances wasn't working. I needed to create some simple systems that wouldn't take too much time (the less time looking at numbers the better for me.) I've come a long way since then and have been helping others with their financial systems. Christin says, "Your system has given me the tools and confidence to tackle our finances and pursue goals that used to be overwhelming and paralyzing. Thank you for making this so practical, flexible and accessible." My Simplify Your Money Systems class starts Monday Oct 6th if you want to join us. *** Beth Dargis beth@mysimplerlife.com Copyright (c) 2014 Beth Dargis, Zeeland, Michigan. All rights
Untamed possibility. Breathe easier simplicity. Hope. I've helped people declutter & organize, lose weight, learn to manage time, gain self-confidence, learn to focus, practice self care and simplify their lives so they can do what's most important to them and their family. I love giving hope to people that come to me thinking it can't be done. I was not born organized, I've had to learn the skills. Things like overcoming perfectionism and procrastination. And knowing what is for dinner before 5pm.
